The Saint
Julie Billiart Parish Religious Education Program is committed
to a dynamic partnership with parents in the religious education
of their children. Parents are the primary educators of their
children. Parents model the saving love of Jesus Christ in
their actions and words and teach their children from infancy
throughout their lives. At Baptism parents make a promise
to God and the church to undertake the responsibility of providing
Christian formation for their children, and the church promises
to assist the parents in this responsibility. The Religious
Education Program tries to assist parents to build on and
continue Christian formation with formal classes. This partnership
between parents and the religious education program requires
ongoing communication, collaboration, and trust in God’s
love and guidance.
Children
and teens anticipating reception of First Communion and Confirmation
should participate in a religious education program at least
one year prior to the celebration of the sacrament. For instance,
if a parent wants his or her child to receive First Communion
in second grade, the child must attend class for all of first
grade and second grade. Children preparing to receive the
sacraments and are home schooled will be asked to participate
in retreats or other special programs designed to help in
faith formation of all the children in the parish.
PREP meets
on Sunday mornings, 9:45 to 10:45 AM, at the Fenmont Center.
Classes are held for Grades 1 – 12.
Registration
for the following school year is held in April with classes
beginning the following September. There is a $10 registration
fee that is due at that time, but will be deducted from the
total tuition fee.
Together
with parents, the St. Julie Billiart Religious Education program
staff hopes to instill and nurture a love for Jesus Christ
and His church, a growing understanding and lifelong participation
in the sacraments and a habit of regular prayer and Christian
Service.
In the
name of Jesus, we ask you, heavenly Father, to bless our endeavors,
so that our children may grow in wisdom and grace.

Early Childhood Program
(I AM SPECIAL)
St. Julie’s
offers a religious education program for pre-school-aged children
4 years old through kindergarten on Sunday mornings from 10:50
AM to 12 PM, at the Fenmont Center.
The I
AM SPECIAL PROGRAM is based on the belief that young children
need to develop positive self-concepts.
- Children’s ability to know God and
their ideas about God are strongly influenced by their
ideas about themselves.
- Children need to feel good about themselves
in order to love others as themselves.
Acknowledging
that the parents are the primary educators of their children
in faith formation, the Early Childhood program keeps parents
informed of lesson objectives and ways to extend the lesson
at home through the use of weekly letters.
The program
endeavors to help the children develop positive attitudes
about themselves, their family, and friends by discovering
and learning more about the many gifts, talents, and abilities
that God has given them.
Registration
is held in April for the next school year. The registration
fee of $10 is applied to the $35 tuition fee.
