Congratulations to the children who received Holy Communion for the first time at St. Joseph! Next weekend there will be First Communions at St. Julie’s; some at each Mass. I think the image of vine and branches from today’s gospel is a beautiful image of how Jesus wants to give life to us through the Holy Eucharist. Holy Communion connects us to the vine, the source of life.
May is Mary’s month. Each parish of the region will have a crowning or devotion to Mary. May Crowning at St. Joseph will happen on Thursday, May 3 at 8am before the all school Mass. St. Peter’s Crowning of Mary will be on Friday, May 4 at 10am. St. Julie’s May devotion will be Sunday, May 20 at 10:15am. The Holy Spirit inspired Elizabeth to say, “Most blessed are you among women.” (Luke 1:42) We echo the words of the Holy Spirit. Furthermore, Mary’s motherly care and tenderness remind us of the Church at her best. During this month of Mary, I take this opportunity to thank the Rosary Altar Society of St. Peter and of St. Julie Billiart. If you want to know more about what they do, call the parish office. Married couples can journey together through Teams of our Lady. Call St. Peter’s parish office for more information or attend an information meeting after the 11am Mass on May 6.
I was encouraged to recognize many familiar faces at the Mozart concert, which continued St. Joseph’s celebration of 150 years of faith.
The Novena to the Holy Spirit in preparation for Pentecost will begin on May 10. The prayer(s) will be in next week’s bulletin. We have a holy hour with confessions on Tuesday at St. Joseph, as it is the first Tuesday of the month.
What a joy to know, love, and serve our Lord and to draw near to Him in Holy Communion!
