Thank you to the parents who attended the parent meeting for confirmation candidates.  I was happy to see so many.  With the pandemic, you miss seeing friends and familiar faces.  Those who could not attend will be asked to watch the first episode of Never Alone (FORMED).  We appreciate your timely identification of confirmation sponsors.

Parents of students preparing for reconciliation will meet on Sunday, October 11.

Today we mark Respect Life Sunday.  Over 200,000 lives have been lost to COVID-19 in the United States.  Each year over 600,000 lives are lost to abortion in the United States.  Just as the Church is a leaven in society to bring life and dignity, legalized abortion is a leaven for callousness toward life.  You are invited to join in prayer this afternoon, Sunday, October 4 for the Prayer Chain from 2-3pm in downtown Hamilton.  Fittingly, iVoteCatholic takes up the theme this week of the Life and Dignity of the Human Person.

Next Saturday, October 10th, we will join together for the Fatima Rosary Rally.  It will take place in St. Julie’s parking lot along 2nd street.  Please park on the road or in the Fenmont parking lot.  October 13, 1917 was the Miracle of Sun witnessed by tens of thousands of people in Fatima, Portugal.  Our Blessed Mother, who has such an ardent yet tender love for us, has commended the Rosary to us.  Just over a week ago, I had the joy of speaking with a parishioner about our Blessed Mother.  You can see it as episode 12 of Seasons of Prayer (YouTube: St. Julie Billiart Parish or search Seasons of Prayer).

October 4 is the Feast day for the povorello, St. Francis of Assisi.  His legacy continues as two of our own – Josh Richter and Hannah Houser – are entering religious life with the Franciscans.

God bless you and keep you,

Fr. Rob
